GAPIMNY is proud to launch The Gaysian Diaries, a new series of diary-style entries written by queer Asian and Pacific Islander (QAPI) men and transgender people.
In light of GAPIMNY’s 2016 theme Coming Together: Creating Safe Spaces for QAPIs, the objective of The Gaysian Diaries is to create a space for QAPI men and transgender individuals to share and reflect upon their experiences. The project intends to feature a wide range of community voices, raising general understanding of the “gaysian” experience while spotlighting unique stories of individuals. Living as a double minority can be an isolating experience, and this project aims to make readers feel less alone. We hope that these entries will start a dialogue on issues and topics missing from traditional media, online content, and conversations in our personal lives.
Starting March 2016, diary entries will be posted on GAPIMNY’s Tumblr on the 1st of each month and publicized via GAPIMNY communications (newsletter, social media, etc.). As we introduce this project to our members and the broader community, we would like to thank Charles Lin, Dennis Chin, and Richy Lou, whose creativity and passion have made this worthy project possible.
Yours truly,
Jason Kwong and Rafael Flores
