At the QTAPI picnic on June 29th 2019, GAPIMNY raised $105 dollars which we have donated to the commissary fund for trans women incarcerated in NYC jails that is organized by No New Jails NYC. If you’d like to make a donation, check out: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8fX31iNpTK
The commissary fund will help incarcerated trans women purchase items such as “hygiene items, snacks, writing instruments,” etc. that are important to their well-being and survive the brutal & dehumanizing conditions of NYC jails.
From No New Jails NYC:
“Since the murder of Layleen Polanco Xtravaganza on June 7, 2019, we have been working to build a network of support & solidarity for incarcerated trans women while we work to dismantle jails & bring all our people home. Because we know that the state won’t keep trans women, especially Black trans women, safe. Because we know incarceration is state-sanctioned violence against our communities.
“As we work to dismantle policing, incarceration, & surveillance, it is crucial that we continue to support & love our community members who are currently surviving incarceration. We see moving funds to people’s books as a form of mutual aid that honors our vision of abolition as care & community without cages. Your contributions make this possible!”
