GAPIMNY, along with more than 100 elected officials, defender organizations, unions and community groups, sent a letter to Chief Judge Janet DiFiore demanding that OCA act immediately to ban ICE from New York state courts. This is part of a broader campaign to end courthouse detention, and ultimately to stop deportation. Thank you to all of those who participated in the walk-out and rally and supported this campaign.
“Courthouses are a place for the laws of New York to be enforced. The presence of ICE agents in the courthouse converts them from a point of entry to justice into a bait-and-switch trap.”
