GAPIMNY condemns the massacre committed by the state of Israel against the Palestinian people, which has left at least 60 Palestinians dead and thousands more wounded. Not only is this violence subsidized and sanctioned by the US government, but it is also precipitated by the Trump administration’s decision to move the US embassy intended for Israel to Jerusalem, a move that symbolically legitimizes the ongoing occupation of Palestine.
As queer and trans Asians and Pacific Islanders, we have long struggled against American empire and unjust colonial occupation. We can think of the United States’ continued military presence in the Philippines and the resultant death of Jennifer Laude, a trans Filipina murdered by an American soldier. We can also think of the ongoing occupation of Hawaii by the United States.
GAPIMNY, therefore, stands in solidarity with Gaza and calls on membership to join the efforts of those who fight for a free Palestine.
