GAPIMNY will be matching up to $1000 in donations to Black Trans Nation, a 501(c)3 organization that currently provides mutual aid to Black trans people, including youth runaways, and sex workers. These funds will be used towards a youth-focused project (ages 13 – 35) that currently provides emergency housing and financial services to those in need.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Trans Nation has been critical in developing mutual aid projects and networks. This grassroots organization aspires to be a voice for the voiceless and to create spaces for Black trans women to build collective power. It’s long term goals include acquisition of social housing and a multipurpose community space.
Black Trans Nation is founded and led by community leader TS Candii. TS Candii is a Black transgender woman, sex worker, organizer, political activist, and public speaker. You can learn more about TS Candii in this interview.
