Following President Trump’s termination of DACA last year, Republican leadership has refused to bring the Dream Act or other bipartisan Dream solutions to a vote. As the statement explains, “A majority of the House – and by extension, a majority of the American people – agree we need a vote on the Dream Act now. Congress must also reject Rep. Goodlatte’s bill which would criminalize immigrant communities and fail to offer permanent protections for Dreamers.”
GAPIMNY, along with nearly 200 national, state, and local organizations, has signed onto a letter calling on House Speaker Paul Ryan to call a Dream Act vote now. The letter, a public statement urging Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) to immediately bring the the Dream Act for a vote on the House floor, follows a bipartisan press conference, held by Representatives Pete Aguilar (D-CA), Jeff Denham (R-CA), and Will Hurd (R-TX), to announce the “Queen of the Hill” resolution, which would force a vote in the House on four measures to provide relief for DACA-recipients.
