The youth of the world are taking their futures into their own hands. Social movements are increasingly becoming more youth-led.

As we can see from the global demonstrations to urge for concrete action on climate change, youngsters from numerous countries stood out from their schools and organized large-scale protests to fill the void created and left by the adults. These youth are demanding and striving for a better future.

In Asia, from the Sunflower movement in Taiwan to the Umbrella movement in Hong Kong, and the current ongoing pro-democracy movement, young people have played significant roles in attempting to bring structural changes to the system.

Join Lion Rock Cafe and Keep Taiwan Free on Sunday January 19th for a screening of Golden Horse award-winning documentary *Our Youth in Taiwan* which follows two young activists of the Sunflower Movement. How did their involvement change their lives? How can their stories inspire us? What roles should we take in social movements? The screening will then be followed by a short panel discussion on how we too, can — and should — take our futures into our own hands.
