Patrick Lin, Member-At-Large (2015)

I did not join the GAPIMNY’s Steering Committee simply because I didn’t have friends; I have many groups of friends — fraternity/sorority friends, school friends, clubbing friends, etc. I joined this group of friends because I felt alone, despite having so many friends.

This feeling of loneliness comes from me being deprived from a group of people who share similar passions in actively tackling various LGBTQ API issues and other social justice concerns.

What makes the GAPIMNY Steering Committee different is that it is composed of passionate friends who all have a strong social justice orientation. Individuals all have different areas of focus that they tend to gravitate towards, but the collective group fosters support for all interests expressed among members. I am fortunate enough to stumble across such supportive friends with varying interests and expertise, and I hope others would join in as we grow together.

Help spread the word.
