Join GAPIMNY for an exclusive, after-hours tour inside Japan Society, a cultural non-profit organization situated in a beautiful landmarked building designed by Japanese architect Junzo Yoshimura. The head docent of Japan Society will be leading us on a guided tour of their current amazing exhibit on sexuality and gender in pre-Westernized Japan. Tickets are normally $20, but GAPIMNY paid members only have to pay $6 to attend.
While inside, you will be treated to:
- A private tour of Japan Society’s current gallery exhibition, A Third Gender: Beautiful Youths in Japanese Prints, which features over 70 woodblock prints, paintings, ornaments and luxury objects.
- In-depth insights on the exhibition origins, showcased artwork, and applications to contemporary themes of gender and sexual expression.
- A walkthrough of the landmarked headquarters, where you’ll witness stunning backdrops of indoor gardens, reflecting pools, and a waterfall.
